Hi everyone! Before the semester began, I spent a weekend in the Scottish Highlands. It wasn’t my first time there, but I was still impressed by the natural scenery.
If you are tired of taking your friends to the Elephant House where J.K. Rowling wrote her novels, why not bring them to Glenfinnan Viaduct? This is where Warner Brothers shot the scene of the Hogwarts Express. You may also take the train and have a closer encounter with the lochs in Scotland!

Scotland and its rich history have provided a lot of inspirations for films and television series such as Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Outlander. Have you watched Outlander? For those of you who haven’t watched it, I won’t spoil it for you by telling you what happens. Just go and watch it! You’ll find so many filming locations here in Scotland. One of them is Doune Castle, which is where “Castle Leoch” is in the series. Another one is Clava Cairns, which inspired “Craig Na Dun” in the series. These stones are believed to have existed for more than 4000 years!

What a pity that I couldn’t see Nessie this time ☹
In this trip, I also visited Isle of Skye, a mythical land where giants and fairies live (or once lived?). It is said that these natural landforms came from volcanic activities and erosion from wind and sea. But believe it or not, I think they are the houses of magical creatures 😛
How can a Highland trip end without seeing the lovely hairy coos?

I love these hairy coos!!! 😍💖🐂 I fed them carrots and they tried to lick me for more 😂
As classes resume, it is more difficult for us to leave Edinburgh and travel to other cities. But do seize the opportunity and try to arrange a weekend break for yourself!
